More than 10,000 football pitches ready for renewable energy

There has been a steady flow of land listed on our platform in the last few weeks, with some start of the year planning and a bit more time in the office for many. We now have the equivalent of more than 10,640 football pitches of land available for potential renewable energy projects.  

The 7,595 hectares of listings, from Shetland to Cornwall as well as in Northern Ireland, could power a lot of the UK through wind and solar. 

We understand the challenges faced on both sides of the fence – those looking for renewable sites and projects and those looking for suitable partners. The idea behind Renewables Connect is to make this process easier by having a centralised platform for both to use and helping to accelerate what can be a lengthy process. It can also help land agents and advisers to support their clients with either promoting land or finding suitable partners. 

One other key advantage is ‘co-location’, so when developers are looking at land potential, they may, through Renewables Connect, be able to identify different parcels of land that could all work together for a larger scale project. If they are going out to landowners individually, or landowners are going to them individually, this opportunity can be missed.
