NPF4 – a less weighty policy!

KATIE INSCH • November 29th, 2024

National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4), which was introduced in February 2023, is set to transform Scotland’s energy landscape.

NPF4 places less of an emphasis on the anticipated impact that a proposed renewable energy project will have on the landscape. The net result of this is that say wind farms which were previously considered to have too detrimental an impact on the landscape, will be more favourably considered when planning applications are submitted. We have now seen fresh planning applications being submitted proposing the erection of wind turbines, where the application was previously refused. Some of these applications have been approved.

If your land has previously been ruled out by a renewable developer or planning consent was refused for a wind farm development, we suggest that you list your land on our platform to see whether there is any interest from wind developers.
