We’re in Wales!

KATIE INSCH • January 31st, 2025

We now have our first Renewables Connect listing in Wales. This means that we now have listings in all four nations: Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales.

This is quite timely, with the Rugby Six Nations kicking off today with France playing Wales in the first game of the Championship. Maybe we will put a £10 bet on Wales to win the Championship. Then again…maybe not this year!

Renewables Connect came about as we wanted to create a centralised, one-stop platform to connect landowners with developers looking for potential sites for renewable energy. There are lots of opportunities out there for both, but it can be a minefield knowing where to start or working out where the opportunity is.

As a landowner – whether it’s an estate, farm, brownfield site or you are the Local Council or the Church – it’s an opportunity to bring in valuable additional income and to meet environmental targets.

As a landowner, you can lose a lot of time approaching developers, working blindly to what they need, and developers can do the same scoping for sites, missing out on what could be a great match. The interactive map also has the advantage of showing developers clusters of land, which may all be under different ownership, but which provide opportunity for a more viable project than would be possible with just one parcel

Renewables Connect is effectively a matchmaking service. It has been described as the ‘Right Move’ of renewables. The advantage of this one-stop, centralised digital platform is that it’s all listed here so, as a landowner, you don’t need to put in any extra effort once it’s on the site, and as a developer, you can pick and choose ‘off the shelf’.
